38 Special, Original Wailers concerts taken off July concert calendars - Tampa Bay Times

It looks like the rest of July will be quiet for Tampa Bay concert fans. Ruth Eckerd Hall has rescheduled a July 24 show by Southern rockers 38 Special, and Jannus Live has canceled a July 25 concert by the Original Wailers.

“Due to the current mandate and the recent spikes in Florida we have decided it in the best interest of our fans and the artist, the Original Wailers, to just cancel this show and issue everyone the refund,” Jannus Live posted on its website. “We appreciate your understanding and we will bring you live music as soon as we feel safe to.”

There are no other shows listed on the Jannus concert calendar in July. The Aug. 23 concert by heavy metal band Black Label Society, fronted by Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wild, is the first concert still on the calendar.

Ruth Eckerd Hall, which held a series of sold-out cabaret shows by the Greg Billings Band last month in its lobby, had announced that 38 Special would perform Hold on Loosely and other classic hits on the main stage July 24, with the Greg Billings Band opening.

But on Wednesday, the Clearwater performing arts hall issued an announcement that the concert has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. Tickets purchased for July 24 will be honored on the new date. Admission is limited to parties of four at this time. Tickets are priced at $52.75-$128.75 at RuthEckerdHall.com.

“While we are committed to providing a clean and safe environment, it is impossible to eliminate all health risk in any location, so please use discretion,” a news release from Ruth Eckerd Hall said.

The rest of July’s concert calendar is empty on Ruth Eckerd Hall’s website, which also includes the Murray Theater and downtown Clearwater’s Bilheimer Capitol Theatre. The first show still on the docket is Aug. 1 by the Australian Pink Floyd, a popular theatrical tribute band.

When shows do resume, Ruth Eckerd Hall said it will require face masks, hand sanitizer stations will be readily available, and food and drink stations will be moved outdoors.
