There were a lot of close match-ups in Round 1 of the HBO Original Series Showdown, but there were also a few complete wipeouts that we really thought were going to be much tougher contests. Among the pairs that nearly split the vote were Olive Kitteridge vs. Mildred Pierce and Generation Kill vs. John Adams, both of which were so close that they were decided by fewer than 100 votes. On the flipside, we expected the match-ups of Deadwood vs. Westworld and True Detective vs. The Leftovers to be much closer than they turned out to be, as both the longtime fan favorite Deadwood and the critically acclaimed The Leftovers fell by more than 75% of the vote.
At first glance, Round 2 doesn’t look like it will hold many surprises or upsets, but as we’ve seen time and again, things rarely turn out the way we expect them to, so it’s probably safe to assume nothing is guaranteed. With that in mind, cast your votes below now — polls will close on Thursday, June 11 at 1opm PT, and Round 3 will go live shortly thereafter — and help us determine the Greatest HBO Original Series.
