The Golden Globes have become the latest part of awards season to feel the pandemic shift.
Not long after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the 2021 Oscars would be pushed two months to April 25, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that the 2021 Golden Globes would land nearly two months behind schedule.
The awards show, traditionally one of the more lively televised events of the celebrity calendar, normally takes place in early January on the first Sunday of the year. The Golden Globes are now set for Sunday, Feb. 28, the original date of the Oscars, the HFPA said Monday.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return as Golden Globes hosts for 2021, having presided over the show in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Emmy Awards, set for Sept. 20 with host Jimmy Kimmel, will proceed as planned or move to a different format.
The Creative Arts Emmys are set to be a virtual affair, and the Governors Ball, which comes after the Emmys, has been canceled for the first time because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 78th Golden Globes will air live coast to coast from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET (5 to 8 p.m. PT) Feb. 28 on NBC.
