Theatre 55, a company of performers 55 and older, is doing a radio play series, three original broadcasts of “Philip Marlowe, Private Detective.”
Theatre 55 is calling the event “Theater in the Time of COVID.” Broadcasts will be livestreamed via Zoom at 3 p.m. Sept. 19, Oct. 3 and Oct. 17, and available on-demand through the Theatre 55 website, theatre55.org. Tickets are $35 to $10.
“We’re committed to our community and our core 55+ acting community. We didn’t want to let COVID-19 deprive us of experiencing theatre in some form,” Richard Hitchler, founder and artistic director of Theatre 55 , said in a news release. “We decided that radio was a safer and more realistic means to a creative outlet.”
The shows replicate the radio show era familiar to a 55+ audience, he added.
