Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary in all sorts of ways. One of those ways is by releasing new 4K steelbook editions of the original Star Wars trilogy. Each one comes with a 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray version of the movie in question, plus extras, all packaged in a slick steelbook case. These are Best Buy exclusives, and they’re set to release May 2 (just in time for Star Wars Day, a.k.a. May the 4th). You can preorder them at Best Buy.
Preorder Star Wars 4K Steelbooks
The films in question include Star Wars: A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. In fitting with the Disney 100 series, each film features a brushed metallic steelbook case, with the Disney 100 logo on top and a picture centered on the outside. Inside each case, you’ll find three discs, plus a large frame from the movie printed on the inside of the case. The movies cost $29.99 each and will release in early May.
Now, before you get too excited, I wouldn’t expect these to be the original theatrical releases or anything wild like that. These are likely re-releases of the special editions, the same versions streaming on Disney+, complete with the CGI additions and Greedo shooting first.
Other movies getting the Disney 100 steelbook treatment include Encanto, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Frozen, Toy Story, and a whole lot more.
