Fort Worth Tex-Mex restaurant The Original Mexican Eats Cafe was given three more months to serve queso and enchiladas on Camp Bowie Boulevard.

The Original will now close June 30, 2023, three months later than the original expiration date of March 31, 2023. The landlord granted an extension, confirms owner Robert Self. He wouldn’t say whether another one is likely.

“I wish I could see into the future,” Self said. But, still: “We live to Tex-Mex another day.”

The nearly 100 year-old restaurant is closing because of a lease dispute, Self said in February 2023.
