Younger viewers of the current Night Court series may not realize that it is based on the original Night Court that ran on NBC from 1984 to 1992. It starred Harry Anderson as Judge Harry T. Stone and featured a hilarious cast and odd cases. The newer series stars Melissa Rauch as Judge Abby Stone, the daughter of Judge Harry T. Stone, and there are many nods to the original series and characters. Which begs the question, where is the original cast now? Sadly, many of them have since passed away.
Harry Anderson (Judge Harry T. Stone)
d. 2018
Anderson made a name for himself on Night Court. After the series ended, he went on to star as journalist Dave Barry in the sitcom Dave’s World. He played himself in an episode of 30 Rock about Night Court. He also appeared in some creepier shows including a TV mini-series It and Tales from the Crypt.
His final appearance was in the 2014 film A Matter of Faith after slowing down his career in the 2000s. He passed away at the age of 65 in 2018, after suffering from a stroke.
After Night Court, Robinson made a career of cameos in popular shows such as Charmed, How I Met Your Mother, My Name is Earl, Mom, and My Wife and Kids. His final roles were in the movie Senior Entourage and a short called Sleepwalkers.
He passed away in 2021 at the age of 75 from cardiac arrest.
Markie Post (Public Defender Christine Sullivan)
d. 2021
Right after Night Court ended, Post went on to play Georgie Hartman on Hearts Afire. Prior, she was known as Terry Michaels on The Fall Guy. She was also known for Chicago P.D., There’s Something About Mary, and The Kids Are Alright.
Her final role was in an episode of Soundtrack. Post passed away in 2021 after a battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.
Richard Moll (Bailiff Bull Shannon)
d. 2023
While Moll was perhaps best known for Night Court, his voice was very well known. He was the voice of Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures as well as the voice of Norman in Mighty Max. He also appeared in films such as Casper Meets Wendy and Scary Movie 2. Prior to Night Court, he appeared in a lot of popular nostalgic sitcoms such as Happy Days and The Facts of Life.
His final role was in a film called Slay Belles in 2018. He passed away at the age of 80 in October 2023.
Larroquette became a fan favorite on Night Court and it led to his own NBC sitcom called The John Larroquette Show in the 1990s. He has since appeared on shows such as The Twilight Zone reboot, Boston Legal, and The Librarians.
He is currently reprising his role on the 2023 version of Night Court.
Warfield continued to work with her co-stars after Night Court, appearing in The John Larroquette Show and Dave’s World. She reprised her role during the Season 1 finale of the new Night Court series and had nothing but good things to say about the reboot.
Besides the cameo, her most recent roles were in 9-1-1, The Upshaws, and a film called A Holiday I Do.
