A modern farmhouse on 20 acres in Temecula owned by entertainment couple Robert Hartmann and Susan Egan has listed for just under $2 million.
Known as “Fabled Oaks Farm,” the hilltop property on Carancho Road has three residences and a mix of agricultural and natural land. It includes olive and avocado groves, a fruit orchard and a vineyard.
The couple — he’s a comedy club owner and TV producer, she’s an actress who snagged a Tony nomination for bringing the character of Belle to life in the original 1994 production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” — purchased the property in 2014 for $500,000, records show.
According to the farm’s website, their goal was to build “an idyllic representation of their native Southern California” with “sustainability high on their priority list.”
The residences are contained among two neighboring structures completed in 2017.
Within the 3,500-square-foot main house are three bedrooms, an open-concept kitchen, dining and living area with a towering fireplace, and a high half-vaulted ceiling with wood beams. Behind a sliding barn door in the master suite sits a soaking tub and a separate shower.
Glass doors open to an expansive deck that runs the length of the house. Abundant windows bring in natural light and frame sweeping views of surrounding hills.
One of two downstairs bedrooms and the family room provide access to the back covered patio.
In the two-car garage, there’s a two-bedroom, 1,400-square-foot guest house upstairs and a one-bedroom, 500-square-foot guest cottage downstairs.
Both structures boast fire-resistant steel siding, solar panels and a rainwater capture and storage system used to irrigate the groves. A lavender field is sustained by wastewater that has undergone multiple cleanings via a state-of-the-art septic system.
Other features of the property include a covered courtyard with a built-in barbecue and pizza oven, a terraced fire-pit with built-in seating and a treehouse, as well as an oak grove cut by a year-round creek that teams with tadpoles.
A 1-mile trail loops through the olive and avocado groves.
