Did you tune in to "Come Together: A Relief Effort for Tourism Workers,” a statewide effort to help workers across the state?

We hope so.

It was an incredible week of memorable performances by some of the state’s best-known musicians, as well as appearances by those who know first-hand how the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic has devastated the tourism industry.

Guests included Tim Allen, the voice of Pure Michigan, as well as Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill, Carter Oosterhouse and Amy Smart Oosterhouse, The Accidentals, Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe, members of Greensky Bluegrass and so many more.

The goal of “Come Together” -- produced daily, live on MLive’s Facebook page -- was to raise funds for the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association’s Michigan Hospitality Employee Relief Fund.

It was sponsored by Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

You can watch every episode below or on MLive’s YouTube Channel.

“I want to thank all of the performers, guests and donors who came to the aid of people in need. We really are stronger when we come together for each other’s benefit," Dave Lorenz, who is vice president of Travel Michigan.

“We are all missing those connections, the people and places that mean so much to us…so, this event literally brought us together, literally, even as we continue to socially distance from one another. There’s something cathartic and fulfilling about helping others so I’m hoping that friends of Pure Michigan will continue to give to www.mrlaef.org as they plan for their upcoming summer trips all throughout Pure Michigan.”

I co-hosted the daily shows with Tom Daldin of “Under the Radar,” a Michigan travel program on PBS Television.

“This is probably one of the single most rewarding events I have ever been a part of,” Daldin said. “Pure Michigan, MLive, UTR and a ton of Michigan celebrities and entertainers came together to make a difference in the lives of people who really need the help right now. The fact that we had a ton of fun along the way is simply a bonus.”

All hospitality employees in Michigan are eligible to apply for funds from The Michigan Hospitality Employee Relief Fund. Applications are available online at mrlaef.org/relief-fund.

Also, you can still make a donation now if you didn’t get a chance to do so last week.

In addition, show off your state pride by purchasing a “Two Peninsulas, One Pure Michigan” t-shirt, with $5 from each purchase going towards the Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund.
