BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Families are sure to love Music at the Watering Hole, a free online concert film brought to cyberspace by the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, Mendx Studios, and Central Florida author, Michele Wallace Campanelli.

On Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m., the program will come to life on screen, featuring characters from the original children’s story by Campanelli.

King of Africa, Kojo the Lion is surprised when a box falls off a tourist bus and drops a symphony of musical instruments near his watering hole.

He decides to bring all of the wild animals of the Savannah together to form an orchestra including natural enemies! Similar to an orchestrated “storytime,” the family concert on film will be narrated by actor, Eric Pinder.

It will feature kid-tested musical selections from Madagascar, Lion King, Zootopia, Jungle Book, Jurassic Park, The Croods, and more, along with demonstrations of musical instruments by costumed musicians.

Music at the Watering Hole is funded through a grant by Indian River Impact 100, an organization of women dedicated to impacting the community through transformational giving.

Approximately 60-minutes in length, the film will be premiered in a free live stream event from the orchestra website at SpaceCoastSymphony.org. (Space Coast Symphony image)

Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins, thinks the family concert film, Music at the Watering Hole, is a dose of much-needed positivity in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“We jumped at the chance to bring another of Michele’s stories to life,” said Collins. “Our family concert is all about bringing joy through the power of music– one of our most important missions. It’s especially great to know we’ll be spreading happiness every time the film is seen.”

The free family concert on film will be made available for presentation to elementary classrooms in public, private and home schools.

Other educators or institutions who wish to show the film should submit a request in writing to jennifer@SpaceCoastSymphony.org.

In 2019, Michele Campanelli teamed with the Space Coast Symphony for the animated project, Musicians Are Superheroes.

The movie by Twelve Atlas Films, underwritten by Impact 100, was a tremendous hit with family concertgoers in Brevard and Indian River Counties.
