LINCOLN PARK — Devil Dawgs is closing its flagship location in Lincoln Park after a decade of business there.
The Chicago hot dog chain’s original location, 2147 N. Sheffield Ave. in Lincoln Park, will close for good this Sunday, according to a note posted to the Devil Dawgs website.
The Chicago hot dog chain’s three other locations in Lakeview, Wicker Park and South Loop will remain open.
To celebrate 10 years at its tiny storefront, Devil Dawgs is giving away $1 hot dogs at all of its locations while supplies lasts on Thursday. Limit is one per customer.
Dena Bachenheimer, managing director at Devil Dawgs, told Fox-32 this week the company was losing its lease on the 350-square-foot storefront.
She said Devil Dawgs wants to stay in Lincoln Park and is looking for a new space in the neighborhood by next summer.
“We don’t want to leave,” Bachenheimer said.
Devil Dawgs is located blocks away from the DePaul University campus and Lincoln Park High School. And with DePaul holding most of its classes virtually this year, the hot dog stand lost a significant chunk of its customers.
“COVID hasn’t helped the situation, but we are going to put some Chicago love out there today and tomorrow,” Bachenheimer said.
