Food: Pure as the driven 'Snow' - Sonoma Index-Tribune

mixdes.blogspot.com

You don’t even have to drive to the airport and freeze in your car. Check this Sonoma International Film Festival movie out right at home after the presents are tidied up and leftovers are disappearing.

It’s a French import called “Blanche Comme Neige,” which officially translates to “Pure as Snow,” but literally translates to “White as Snow,” as it is an update on the “Snow White” fairytale. It shows Dec. 26 at 6 p.m.

Anne Fontaine directs. Lou de Laage stars as Claire, who works at her late father’s hotel, now managed by her evil stepmother, Maud (Isabelle Huppert). You might guess where this goes: Maud has a younger lover who turns out to have a crush on Claire. And off it sails.

This is the west coast premiere and is sponsored by Anaba Wines from whom you can order tasting kits for the evening. Get your kit and sign up for the film at sonomafilmfest.org. Movie on your screen is $10 and free for pass holders.

Sonoma International Film Festival suggests you order takeout dinner from its co-sponsors including Café LaHaye, Sonoma Grille, Mary’s Pizza Shack, Basque Boulangerie, Taub Family Outpost, the Red Grape, Della Santina’s and Murphy’s Irish Pub.
