Amid big changes, Dacono’s Jerry D’s to keep original vibe - Longmont Times-Call

Jerry D’s, the popular Dacono biker bar and beer garden, has a new owner, new name and is under renovations to modernize the pub. But the plans are for it to keep the original vibe that has drawn in locals and visitors since 1985.

“Well, it’s time for me to retire-retire, and I think that the new owner, Brad (Linkus) who owns IMI Motorsports Complex in Dacono is exactly what Jerry D’s needs for its future,” Jerry D’s former owner, Jerry Denovellis, said.

Denovellis, who took the bar back over shortly after selling it in 2016, said he is “thrilled to see the new direction Brad (Linkus) has planned and I cannot wait to pop in once it reopens.”

New owner Brad Linkus said, Jerry D’s, now Jerry D’s 2.0, 604 8th St., is tentatively scheduled to reopen before Christmas but does not have a reopening date scheduled yet.

“We are keeping the same vibe that Jerry (Denovellis) preserved since it opened in 1985 but we are modernizing it,” Linkus explained. “We are tying in more sports — because I also own IMI Motorsports nearby so we wanted to make it sort of a continuation from the track to the bar for fans and visitors.”

As part of the renovation process, Linkus said, “We’ll keep the same pictures and everything is still gonna be there but we are redoing the floors and the walls.” Other improvements include modernizing the kitchen, expanding the patio with updates and revamping the interior.

“We don’t want to give too much away yet, because we want locals who have loved Jerry D’s to come in and check it out once we are done,” Linkus said. “I think most locals will be happy with the results.”

Linkus said the name change, Jerry D’s 2.0, signifies a new start for the bar but also pays respect to its longstanding history within the community and statewide.

“People from all over the state have come into Jerry D’s and the last thing we want to do is completely gut out the history,” Linkus said. “So adding 2.0 on the name really encompasses what we are attempting to accomplish with this renovation and modernization of Jerry D’s.”

Linkus said Jerry D’s 2.0 will still have some familiar activities like the shuffleboard and pool tables, but the pub will have “more variety of beer on tap and a lot different food menu. It’s not the same or worse menu, it’s gonna be better.”

The bar will also bring in a popular racing simulator that drivers at his racetrack practice on for locals to check out.

New additions Linkus is excited about is the live streaming of events from IMI Motorsports Complex and the updated sound system being installed.

“It’s still the same great place that bikers and sports fans have loved for decades and will keep many of the same events but with a much needed modernization,” Linkus said.

Denovellis said he is proud that Jerry D’s survived its early days competing with nine other local bars, recessions and now the pandemic but, “I’m extremely thankful someone is ready to carry on the concept of a mostly outdoors beer garden for decades to come.”
