San Diego-based small-batch craft brewery Pure Project is opening its largest taproom yet, and these pics of the fantastic open concept, indoor-outdoor flow and cozy seating areas, are giving me some serious FOMO from my seat here in cold-ass Canton, Ohio.
Co-founded in 2015 by friends and entrepreneurs Mat Robar, Jesse Pine, and Winslow Sawyer, Pure Project brews unique, ingredient-driven beers with a passion for sustainability, seasonality, and the small details. One of the coolest things they do is document all of their sustainability initiatives and report on their impact each year.
“We are excited to bring a relaxing, outdoor biergarten of this scale to the neighborhood of North Park,” says Mat Robar, Co-Founder. “The space was intentionally designed as a respite from the urban bustle; from the large planted trees and warm wood tones to the laid back furniture and firepits, we’re bringing the best parts of your favorite backyard into an urban setting.”
Anyway, this FOMO-inducing space is located in North Park—one of San Diego’s most craft-minded communities— and has provides 7,000 sq. ft. of prime indoor and outdoor space for people to come together, relax, and enjoy a few pints. It will feature a rotating tap list with 20 beers on tap.
The open concept indoor-outdoor area with four large roll-up doors tie the main bar to the biergarten area. The that outdoor space is 4,000 sq. ft. and includes 170 outdoor seats—from picnic tables and Adirondack rockers to love seats and backyard porch swings. Inside, there are 30 indoor seats with plenty of comfortable lounging areas.
Other cool things:
• Five ground-planted tipuana trees sprinkled throughout the outdoor patio to provide shade and ambiance
• Large Cor-ten steel outdoor fire pits accompanied by rocking chairs and swings
• Outdoor wood details, live-edge shelving, and merchandise area made from reclaimed local eucalyptus trees built by Urbn Timber
• Skylit restrooms
• Sustainable cork oak wall covering in hallway
• Dog friendly
“North Park is such an important part of San Diego Craft Beer so we’re very honored to be able to join our peers in the neighborhood and complement the existing scene that they’ve built,” says Jesse Pine, Co-Founder: “El Cajon Blvd itself has a lot of amazing projects in the works in addition to ours, so we’re really looking forward to being involved in the community.”
