Tired of seeing all-white interiors and an overload of neutrals in every home? Then this Tudor-style home in Highland Park may feel like a breath of fresh air. The home at 4509 Fairfax Ave. retains much of its original 1920s charm with colorful details throughout.

Built in 1928 and recently updated, the home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom in 3,578 square feet of space. Listing agent Janna Schick of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate said the home is technically a story and a half, with the primary suite the only bedroom on the second level.

Schick said that the use of color, primarily blue hues through the main living spaces, distinguishes the home from others.

“They have a lot of color in the house, and it works,” she said of the sellers’ renovations and customizations. “It’s very striking and tastefully done.”

The living room is just off the entrance and leads to the dining room, connected by a large arched doorway. The dining room has display cases built into the doorway that leads to the kitchen. The kitchen has blue cabinets, an island with seating and stainless steel appliances — including a large, eight-burner stove.

There’s a bar just off of the kitchen that has wine storage, refrigerator drawers and an icemaker. The nearby den, which is next to the kitchen, has built-in bookcases and storage.

Three of the home’s bedrooms are on the first level of the home, along with three bathrooms and one half-bathroom. The primary suite on the second level has a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace and access to a balcony. The primary bathroom was renovated and has colorful blue tile, aquatic-themed wallpaper and a separate bathtub and shower.

Schick said that the sellers’ renovations don’t detract from the home’s original design.

“It retains the feel of when the house was built,” she said. “It still has the look of a 1928 home.”

The home is listed for $2,500,000. It is currently under contract.
