The way Bills QB Josh Allen performed in 'pure passing situations' looks good - Bills Wire

When other teams know the Buffalo Bills are going to pass the ball, Josh Allen still gets the job done.

In fact, he does so better than almost anyone in the NFL.

According to SumerSports, Allen has an EPA (Expected Points Added) score just over 0.2 in terms of “pure passing situations” over the past two seasons. That makes Allen the second-best QB in these scenarios.

Only Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes rates higher and is the only other QB to score above 0.2.

In the study, the dropbacks factored into the formula are the ones when there is greater than a 70 percent chance of a team throwing the ball… so when a defense knows it’s coming.

Allen’s finish puts him just ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, who finished third.

Most interestingly, new Las Vegas Raiders signal caller, Jimmy Garoppolo, sits in fourth ahead of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.

For the full breakdown, SumerSports’ findings can be seen below:
