Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield promises that Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will improve upon the original slasher. Though reception toward Blood and Honey was mostly negative, the concept, which established Pooh and Piglet as barbaric murderers, made the movie go viral and led to impressive box office numbers. A sequel has already been confirmed, along with the development of horror twists on Bambi and Peter Pan.

During a recent interview with IndieWire, Frake-Waterfield discusses the upcoming film and teases some of the improvements he made. He revealed that the appearance of Pooh, Piglet, and others may be different, and noted that the sequel will feature more of Christopher Robin. Read Frake-Waterfield's comments regarding the adjustments in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 below:

"There was a lot of like major like, areas from the first film, which I wanted to improve for the sequel. And one of that was one of those was the look of the creatures. The sequel is a Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh story, which it should be. To accompany that, we explored a lot more of the Winnie the Pooh universe, which everyone is kind of familiar with."

Will Blood & Honey 2 Be Better Than The Original?

One of the biggest criticisms surrounding Blood and Honey was the depiction of its creatures, since they both appeared to be humans wearing masks, and there was debate about whether they were actually meant to be animals or not. However, Frake-Waterfield previously explained that Pooh is not entirely a bear, and that he has human parts to him. In addition to Pooh and Piglet, images from Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 have given glimpses of Tigger and Owl, and they already look scarier than anything shown in the first movie.

Other negative reactions concerning the original movie pointed to its story as another shortcoming. By including Christopher again, and possibly focusing on his relationship with Pooh and others, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 may be able to entertain more viewers. Blood and Honey didn't feature much of Christopher, but revealed that as he grew up, he abandoned the Hundred Acre Wood, only to be attacked upon returning. Near the end of the movie, when his attempt to kill Pooh fails, he deserts his childhood friend once again.

Because Blood and Honey became so popular, and performed well at the box office, there is an expectation that the sequel to be better. It's interesting to hear Frake-Waterfield explain what improvements are being made, and given his comments about Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2's budget and increased violence, there may be even more to look forward to.
