Mark Ronson doesn’t seem to be too disappointed that he didn’t leave the 2024 Golden Globes with a trophy of his own.

The music producer, 48, who received two nominations in the best original song category for his work on the Barbie soundtrack, posted to Instagram on Monday after the award show to post a photo of the acceptance speeches he prepared — torn up and thrown in the trash.

The Grammy winner shared the humble shot of ripped note cards with hand-written text in a carousel, along with a photo and brief video of himself and his wife Grace Gummer posing on the red carpet. The two looked chic together, with Ronson wearing an all Gucci black suit and the actress, 37, in a black gown from the designer.

“gucci at the globes with my one true ❤️,” he wrote in the caption.

Although it’s difficult to make out what the songwriter/producer intended to say in his speeches — had he taken home the best original song award for either co-writing “I’m Just Ken” with Andrew Wyatt or collaborating with Dua Lipa on “Dance the Night” — it appears as though he intended to shout out Barbie filmmaker Greta Gerwig and specific lyrics from the songs.

The Golden Globe ultimately still went to a song from the blockbuster film, as Billie Eilish and  her brother/collaborator Finneas O’Connell took home the award for their ballad “What Was I Made For?.”

After shrugging off his loss, Ronson also took to his Instagram Story to celebrate the pop star’s win. The hitmaker reshared a post from the official Barbie movie account about the songwriting duo’s win against a gold backdrop, and wrote, “Congrats to our Barbie bredren 💖.” (Although he wasn’t credited as an award winner, the recording artist is still listed as a producer on the track for his work on Barbie: The Album.)

The three songs off the Barbie soundtrack were among best original song nominees along with Bruce Springsteen’s "Addicted to Romance" from She Came to Me, Lenny Kravitz’s “Road to Freedom” from Rustin and “Peaches,” performed by Jack Black, in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

When Eilish and O’Connell took the stage at the award show on Sunday night, the “Happier Than Ever” singer thanked the entire team behind the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, her family and others, and opened up about what the song meant to her.

“It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie and I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time and writing that song kind of saved me a little bit,” she said.

“And a year later and here we are and it’s really surreal,” the pop star continued. “I feel incredibly, incredibly lucky. Incredibly lucky and grateful and you guys scare the living hell out of me — everyone in this room — but thank you so much. Thank you, this means the world."

The only other award Barbie won at the 81st annual Golden Globe was for cinematic and box office achievement, although it led with nine total nominations (also including best motion picture - musical comedy, best director, best screenplay, best performance by a female actor in a musical or comedy,  best performance by a supporting male actor in a musical or comedy).

Ronson and other musicians who contributed original songs to Barbie could still bring home a major trophy this award season, as multiple have been shortlisted for the 2024 Academy Awards and several have already received Grammy nominations

At the upcoming Grammy Awards, original music from the film received a whopping 11 nominations. In fact, the best song written for visual media category is almost exclusively songs from Barbie (“Barbie World,” “Dance the Night,” “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For”), save for Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Songs like “Dance the Night” and “What Was I Made For?” are both in the coveted song of the year category, among other nominations.
