Julien's Beverly HillsJulien’s Auction is launching its first non-auction exhibition next week, featuring more than 50 original works, including collaborations among musicians such as Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison and some of the most acclaimed contemporary artists today.
Titled "Degrees of Separation," the selling exhibition will be held at the auction house’s Beverly Hills galleries, as well as its online portal from June 25-30.
Highlighting the exhibition is a painting of a butterfly created exclusively for the exhibition by graffiti artist RISK (born Kelly Graval ) and Billy Morrison, a British visual artist and guitarist for Billy Idol and The Cult.
The large-scale butterfly features wings with images of the Stars and Stripes and Union Jack flags. It was created at The Risk Rock Studios compound, a major creative hub for Southern California comparable to Andy Warhol’s “Factory” in New York.
“Both RISK and I have painted the image of a butterfly in the past to signify change and rebirth,” Morrison said in a statement. “So, when the time came to collaborate on a piece for ‘Degrees of Separation,’ that image seemed perfect.”
Dave Navarro and PADHiA collaborated on "Duel Diagnosis"
Julien's Beverly HillsAnother highlight comes from a collaboration between Dave Navarro—founding member of Jane’s Addiction and a former member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers—and Los Angeles-based street artist PADHiA.
The installation, Duel Diagnosis, features a giant deconstructed cuckoo clock to house fine art pieces exclusively created for the exhibition.
Artists including RISK and Morrison will make an appearance and sign limited-edition works on June 26. Prior to the public exhibition on June 25, the auction house will also host a VIP and red-carpet reception on June 24.
