UPDATE, 12/13/23: Two more Dillinger Escape Plan shows has been added to the band's Calculating Infinity 25th anniversary plans. The newly announced gigs will take place on June 22nd and June 23rd at Brooklyn Paramount, with Deadguy and the Callous Daoboys opening the first, and Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb and the Callous Daoboys opening the second.
ORIGINAL STORY, 12/12/23: The Dillinger Escape Plan's groundbreaking 1999 debut album, Calculating Infinity, turns 25 next year, and the revered mathcore mad scientists will be re-forming for the occasion, reuniting with their original vocalist, Dimitri Minakakis. The reconstituted Dillinger Escape Plan have announced just one Calculating Infinity reunion show so far, on June 21st at New York's Brooklyn Paramount, where the band will play the album in its entirety for the first time ever.
The performance will see Minakakis join Dillinger guitarist, songwriter and bandleader Ben Weinman — the group's lone consistent member over the years — plus DEP alumni Liam Wilson (bass) and Billy Rymer (drums). Carbomb and Candy will open the show.
Fans can pick up tickets early via BrooklynVegan's presale starting Wednesday, December 13th at 10 a.m. ET, using the password: BROOKLYNVEGAN. (All presales end the following day at 10 p.m. ET.) Tickets will go on-sale to the general public on Friday, December 15th at 10 a.m. ET.
Minakakis split amicably with Dillinger way back in 2001, and was replaced by the group's longtime frontman Greg Puciato, who is now a solo artist also known as a member of Jerry Cantrell's backing band, as well as for the groups Better Lovers, Killer Be Killed and the Black Queen. Minakakis joined DEP onstage in December 2017 during their three-night run of farewell shows at NYC's Terminal 5.
"Dimitri has remained one of my longest and closest friends," commented Weinman, who is currently a member of Suicidal Tendencies. "Even after leaving the band, his support and contributions through his work on our first albums have kept an everlasting spark in my heart for what we did together. I remember the first day we met. He was the new guy in school and I drove by him and gave him the finger. Then I reversed the car and asked him if he wanted to hang out and make a band. I said, 'You look like a singer dude.' We could have never imagined what an impact that moment would have."
He added: "While we are all very happy with the resolve of the band in 2017 with Greg, something still feels unsaid as far as the Dimitri era of the band and with so many people talking about the album and after performing a handful of first album performances with Suicidal Tendencies, it just all made sense. This needed to happen!"
