Norwegian climber Tina Johnsen Hafsaas has repeated Pure Imagination 5.14c in Red River Gorge. This is her hardest send to date after Nordic Plumber 5.14b and Nordic Flower 5.14b.
Johnsen Hafsaas spent several days projecting the steep route that is known for having sharp holds. After her send, she said, “If I was to do it again I would make sure to try harder as soon as I thought it was possible. After having put in the work it all came down to details, conditions and skin.”
It was known as “the honeycomb project” before Johnathan Siegrist made the first ascent in November 2010. Adam Ondra onsighted Pure Imagination in 2012 and suggested low end 5.14c. An hour later, on the same day, he onsighted Golden Ticket and suggested high end 5.14c. Both climbs were originally 5.14d.
Shortly after climbing Pure Imagination, Johnsen Hafsaas sent the iconic Omaha Beach 5.14a. In 2017, she finished fourth at the Chamonix World Cup and has been competing internationally for over a decade.
