August 12, 2020 - Neighborhood Comics recently announced its latest fundraising initiative to help offset financial losses due to COVID-19. The brick-and-mortar retail outlet is selling original, one-of-a-kind artwork from some of the comic book industry’s top talents.

Neighborhood Comics, which recently celebrated one year in business, reached out to comic book artists around the world and solicited the original art, which was donated for this fundraiser. The donated artwork is mostly in the form of “sketch cover” comics. These are retail comic books with blank covers that have been hand-illustrated by the artists.

“We are humbled by the outpouring of support for our little store,” says Lee Heidel, owner at Neighborhood Comics. “The fact that so many incredibly talented artists wanted to help us during this challenging time honestly means the world.”

Participating artists include Stephen Green (Sea of Stars), Eryk Donovan (Memetic), Shadia Amin (Aggretsuko), Wook-Jin Clark (Gudetama), Robert Atkins (GI Joe), Tracy Yardley (Sonic the Hedgehog) and Brian Ralph (Daybreak) among many others. The illustrations include fan-favorite subjects like Spider-Man, Batman, Captain America and the Fantastic Four.

This initiative is the latest in a string of COVID-19 era promotions for Neighborhood Comics, including:

• Implementation of private shopping appointments
• Curbside delivery and shipping expansion
• T-shirt fundraiser
• Free Comic Book Summer (going on now through September 9)
