Pretty soon you can buy a custard and get your car washed in one stop.

Meadows Original Frozen Custard in Lower Paxton Township is relocating to make room for a Shiny Shell Carwash, due to open in early 2022.

On a July 1 Facebook message, the Meadow’s owners said the existing location at 4636 Jonestown Road is closing on July 14 and the building will be torn down to accommodate the express car wash.

The good news is the custard shop will reopen in March 2022, just a short distance away inside Meadow’s current arcade, located directly behind the shop’s batting cages and miniature golf.

Last year, Todd Gelbaugh, franchise owner of The Meadows told PennLive he is partnering with the Coldwater Car Wash Group on the new facility, which will be located in the front of the property where The Meadows’ main facility is located.

“We’ve been considering doing a car wash on that site for a couple of years,” he said.

In the meantime, the batting cages and miniature golf will remain open during construction and Meadows will continue to sell Italian ice, soda and water from its clubhouse.

The Salt Lake City-based Shiny Shell plans to open about five car washes in the Harrisburg region including Lemoyne, the intersection of Hogestown Road and the Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township, on Linglestown Road and off of the Route 283 exit near Target.
