Arizona-based restaurant Original Chop Shop, an emerging restaurant chain featuring protein bowls, salads, sandwiches, juice, breakfast, and more, is bringing two locations to the Houston area. The neighborhood eatery will have locations in both River Oaks and the Galleria area later on this summer.
The restaurant boasts a "warm, welcoming place" where guests "fuel their wellbeing" with flavorful food that's "chopped-in-shop" daily with real, quality ingredients, per a release. The healthy food store also offers customizable food for everyone, providing a variety of dietary-friendly items for adults and children, including food free of gluten, dairy, lactose, and soy, along with vegetarian and vegan options.
The dual Houston locations will mark the brand’s third market, a huge milestone for the Original ChopShop team. Although Original Chop Shop will be bringing its first two locales to the Bayou City, Houston is home to its sister brand, Bellagreen American Bistro, which currently operates five restaurants in the Houston area, with another opening later this summer.
To prepare for the restaurant openings in Houston, the chain is hosting a "one-of-a-kind hiring event," according to a press release. The event, appropriately named "Chop Up Hire Up," is looking to hire 70 new fun-loving Houston team members, or 'Chopsters,' as the brand has nicknamed its employees.
"We’re thrilled to bring Original ChopShop to the Houston market and create fulfilling job opportunities for the community," CEO Jason Morgan said in a statement. "As we prepare to open in the weeks ahead, we are looking for energetic individuals that are eager to serve good-tasting food in a fun, engaging environment. We believe that it is important for us to invest in our team both monetarily and developmentally."
According to a press release, the restaurant is committed to paying its hourly team members $13–17 per hour, and the jobs include perks like work flexibility, discounts on meals, and insurance for those who work full time.
The emerging brand is looking to hire managers, hospitality, and culinary roles for both Houston area locations. Though the restaurant is seeking out new hires, the Chop Up Hire Up event won't just be applications and interviews. Attendees will also enjoy games, music, and giveaways. Those who bring a friend will be immediately entered into a drawing to win a $500 American Express gift card.
For those that can't make the hiring event, from July 12 through August 16, the new Galleria location will host interviews by appointment through August 16, as well as open interviews every Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m. and 3-6 p.m.
