In the spring of 1997, Warner Bros. released “Space Jam,” a movie starring Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, and the Looney Tunes. While critics didn’t love it at the time, young basketball fans made it the classic it is today.
Twenty four years later, the second installment of the “Space Jam” franchise, “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” is on track to have a similar trajectory, for better or for worse.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the sequel, which released in theaters and on HBO Max on Friday, has a 30% critics score, which is worse 44% worse than the original. However, the audience score is currently 81%, which is 18% better than the original.
On today’s podcast, Christian and Jacob give their thoughts on “Space Jam: A New Legacy” with the help of a very special guest: Christian’s girlfriend Sarah, who took him to see it over the weekend. They also compare the sequel the original and debate over which one is better.
