On Tuesday night, Pure Life Studios announced its concert lineup for the next few months.

To kick off the spring, Pure Life will host 64-time Ryman Auditorium guest Ray Scott on Saturday. Tickets are limited and almost sold out.

All concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors open at 7 p.m.  The studio is located at 206 Clark Street in the Hillside area of LaGrange.

“I am excited to have live music again and to be back out in the community and see people,” Studio Owner Maggie McDonald said.

Next month, the studio will host two concerts on April 24 and April 30.

Seth Walker is set to perform on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. McDonald said that Walker is often cited as one of the most prolific contemporary Americana artists on the scene today.

Next on the lineup is LaGrange local Jontavious Willis, who is a multi-instrumentalist who was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2020 thanks to his latest album, Spectacular Class.

Willis will be joined by Jayy Hopp and Steven Hull on April 30 for an outdoor concert. McDonald said for concert goers to bring their own lawn chairs and beverages.

On May 1, the studio will host another outdoor concert at Beacon Brewing company with Run Katie Run.

John Cowan and Barry Waldrep will perform together on stage Saturday, May 15.

McDonald said Pure Life was able to host its first concert back from COVID-19 in December.

“We had a great turnout for it and the energy was perfect,” McDonald said. “We had no problems as far as spacing and social distancing.”

All concerts are at a limited capacity of 43 attendees but on May 28 the studio will host its first not-socially-distant, no masks required concert. GRAMMY award-winning country star, John Berry will perform that Friday at 7:30 p.m.

“It is really interesting because we are at a stage right now where a lot of people have gotten their vaccine or have already had COVID-19,” McDonald said. “We are leaving a lot to the public because people that are still really nervous or really skeptical aren’t going to come. As a business owner, I am geared up and ready to go. I am trusting that people are comfortable if they are going to come.”

McDonald said the studio took a big hit because of the pandemic and having to shut its doors.

“We were scraping by and just now have enough to cover my bills,” McDonald said. “That was really stressful. I’m hoping we do well on these next few shows and get back on track. We really just held on and got through it.”

McDonald said she is excited to see the energy again that concerts create.

“This is supporting local businesses and artists outside of what people normally do,” McDonald said. “It’s good for the economy and for the community. Plus, it’s a good social thing to do because it’s fun and creates memories.”
